Life After Cancer … 2 Years On

October 21, 2018
Blog post

It’s been a wee while since I posted a health update so I thought I would share with you all my most recent scan results. I actually had my scan and results a few months back in July but I thought I would keep them and share with you all in October since this is Liver Cancer Awareness month.

Normally the shops are full of pink awareness ribbons during October for Breast Cancer Awareness – A totally worthwhile campaign – but it would be nice to see more awareness around Liver Cancer too. I am guessing that this is maybe because it is so rare – As my consultant likes to remind me 🙂

Anyway I am very pleased to be able to tell you all that my scan results were brilliant! No new evidence of any new tumours or growth of current ones. No nasty-ness at all!

Cue a very relieved Miss and Mr Sparkles … the next course of action will be a repeat scan in the New Year. The scans never get easier let me tell you but I am proud that I have made it to 2 years. I am creeping closer to that magical 5 years post surgery. As I still have benign growths on my Liver I can only imagine that they will require monitoring for the rest of my life so I can never rest easy but I am hopefull that things continue along this path.

So just a small update today. … Thank you for all your support and kind words over the past 2 years, It really has meant so much!

Congratulation! My best friend is a kidney cancer survivor (2 years) and I know just how important these anniversaries are. May it stay that way for you xx
