#GlutenFreeGlasgow … The Grill on The Corner

Blog post

One of the great things about living in Glasgow is the amount of amazing restaurants that are littered all over the city center. Many of these restaurants offer special discounts during the month of January to tempt in diners. I don’t know about you but January is such a long month for me as I am paid a week early in December. Personally I would rather just be paid on the normal date but I am digressing!

Last week my friend and I took advantage of one of the discounts offered and had a gorgeous lunch at Grill on the Corner on Bothwell Street.  With it being a little on the pricier side for my frugal budget it is normally somewhere I would save for a special occasion.

In January however they offer 50% off pretty much the entire menu!

Now it would be criminal to not take advantage of that offer!

As well as being gluten free I am also following a high protein low carb diet at the moment as well as being mindful of fodmaps (which is an exhausting process let me tell you)

Frustratingly Grill on The Corner do not publish their menu online so it can be hard to choose safe gluten free options prior to a visit. Thankfully I have been before plus I know that steak is normally a pretty safe choice so I was ok with not being able to choose my meal before going.

The waitressing team are super helpful and very knowledgeable about gluten which is a huge bonus and really take the time to go over the menu with you as well as providing an allergen card so that you can see at a glance what allergens are present in the dishes.

I chose the leanest steak on the menu which normally comes with chips or mashed potato but the waitress was happy for me to have one of the side dishes of roasted root veg instead which was great.

My lunch was absolutely amazing and I ordered some peppercorn sauce on the side as I was worried about my steak being on the dry side but thankfully it wasn’t and I did enjoy dipping my vegetables into the sauce!

Very naughty I know 🙂

If you are in Glasgow and looking somewhere special then I would really recommend Grill on the Corner and even better you still have time to take up their 50% offer so make sure you get in quick!

It would have been truly criminal not being able to take up that 50% discount, the meal looks really lovely but the restaurant should consider adding the menu online

Steak is always a great choice to order in a restaurant and it teneds to be my go to dish. It’s good they were able to swap out the side for you although I wouldn’t have been able to resist the chips x

That steak looks like it is cooked to absolutely perfection and it’s so nice to know that the waitress was clued up on gluten intolerances and was able to offer you an allergen card. I have issue with order meals due to be lactose intolerant and so many places don’t cater for that!

Oh this looks delicious! I’m gluten free so I love when somewhere has options to cater for that. We have a Grill on the Alley here, I bet it’s the same chain!

What an amazing deal at 50% off!!! Also, great to hear that they are so good about allergies/ intolerences. I don’t eat dairy and I hate to go somewhere when they don’t know if something has butter or milk in!

Your meal looks gorgeous, it sounds like you had a great lunch at The Grill on the Corner. It’s great that the staff are so knowledgeable about allergens and happy to swap items around for you too. Though it is strange they don’t have the menu online. I love looking and deciding what I’ll have before I get there.
