I remember when I came to view our new home for the 1st time the bathroom was one of the rooms that I was never really too sure about. Anyone who knows me will testify that I do love a bit of bling but the black wet wall panels even seemed a bit “much” for me. However due to the cost of other repairs which were much more serious we decided to leave putting our own stamp on the bathroom till last!
That was until we discovered that we had a leaking toilet which caused horrible black marks to appear on our vinyl! The marks that you can see below are not shadows – they are the start of mould which thankfully we were able to stop in it’s tracks by lifting the vinyl up and getting a dehumidifier in super quick!
Funnily enough once we started talking about what to do with the bathroom decor wise we both actually agreed that the black sparkly wall panels were not “too” bad and our money would be better spent on some lovely new flooring and putting our own finishing touches to the room.
One of the things that really irked me about the bathroom was the lack of storage. Now this is actually quite funny as in my old bathroom there was literally nowhere to put anything but I did have a handy little shelf that all of my cosmetics and toiletries would sit on. The window ledge was suddenly becoming my new shelf and it was really annoying not only to me but Mr Sparkles too.
Adding to our annoyance was the lack of a decent bathroom mirror – my old one was simply just not doing it for us anymore!
Once the bathroom had been dried out safely we had our lovely new flooring installed and it really made such a difference to the room. We then set about trying to source a bathroom cabinet that was stylish and also practical at the same time. I had my heart set on a cabinet that had built in LED lights but it was working out to be too costly by the time we factored in an electrician so I thought that I had to kiss that idea goodbye until I stumbled upon this little beauty “The Tremelo LED Battery Bathroom Cabinet“* from Lumino Bathrooms!
The cabinet runs on x3 AA batteries and (according to Mr Sparkles) was super easy to attach to the wall. I consider myself a bit of a dab hand at doing most things DIY but hanging a bathroom cabinet is not one of them! You can see where the batteries slot in from the picture above and you can turn the lights on and off by pressing a little button on the right hand side of the mirror. I am still so in awe of the fact that I can have my LED lights without any of the faffing that is involved with installing additional wiring!
The cabinet normally retails at £99.99 but is actually on sale just now at £79.99 which is fantastic value. Additionally the cabinet is finished in an ice white colour and is constructed in powder coated steel to prevent rust. The 2 shelves provide ample storage space but if you need some additional space for any of your shampoo bottles etc then you can easily remove any of the shelves which we have actually done.
